The Mardi Gras of Basel, known as Fasnacht, is a vibrant carnival held annually in Switzerland. Unlike traditional Mardi Gras celebrations, it begins on the Monday following Ash Wednesday and lasts three days. Participants don colorful masks and costumes, parading through the medieval streets of Basel to lively tunes from piccolos and drums. Lanterns illuminate the night parades, adding to the mystical atmosphere. Its a cultural highlight, blending humor, satire, and tradition in a captivating experience.
