The Kandy Esala Perahera, held annually in Kandy, Sri Lanka, is one of the oldest and grandest Buddhist festivals in the world. Celebrated in July or August, it honors the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. The event features a series of nightly processions with decorated elephants, traditional dancers, drummers, and torchbearers. The vibrant parades move through the streets, creating a mesmerizing spectacle that showcases the islands rich cultural and religious heritage.
